A strong community of support

Barrett, The Honors College Online is focused on building a strong community of support among talented ASU Online students who have made the commitment to an honors education. A hallmark of the Barrett Online experience is attending virtual events and experiences, participating in Barrett traditions such as travel and global engagement programs, and participating in student organizations such as the Barrett Online Student organization, The Forge. Barrett Online students can find dedicated staff and faculty to help build their Barrett journey.

Student Life

Barrett Online students, near and far, can partake in the amazing honors community. Whether attending virtual events such as a Faculty Film Series, joining the Barrett Forge (see below), or collecting Barrett Bucks, the honors online experience builds upon the relationships fostered amongst this special community. Barrett Online students receive a biweekly communication with numerous opportunities just for them. Students are automatically enrolled to receive this communication as an online student. Barrett Online students have their own SLACK channel where they can meet and chat with the Barrett Online community.

Student organizations

Barrett Online currently has one student organization that is dedicated to enriching and cultivating relationships within the online honors community. The Barrett Forge provides a monthly meeting via Zoom with games, themed get togethers, and a relaxed environment for Barrett Online students to stay connected.

Academic and professional enhancement

Barrett Online students have access to tutoring support in Barrett, academic workshops, research opportunities, and career and professional development workshops.

NASPA Gold Excellence Award

Barrett has been recognized with a 2024 NASPA Gold Excellence Award, “Innovation in Rethinking Honors Education,” for creating Barrett Online. NASPA is the professional organization for higher education student affairs, and their Excellence Awards celebrate exceptional programs, innovative services, and effective administration. Barrett Online received the top Gold award for its unique learning opportunities, connections, and community for students.
