When is the next Barrett Convocation ceremony?
The date for the Barrett Spring 2023 Convocation is Monday, May 8th, 2023 at 2:00pm.
Where is Convocation?
Spring Convocation is hosted at Desert Financial Arena on the ASU Tempe Campus.
Are face coverings required for students, staff and guests at graduation?
As of March 14, 2022, face coverings will not be required across ASU campuses, except in a few locations (e.g., in designated courses with select required activities, on intercampus shuttles and in healthcare settings). Anyone (faculty, staff, students and visitors) on an ASU campus location may choose to wear a face covering at any time.
Are students allowed to remove their face covering on the platform/stage (i.e. while receiving their diploma or taking their Grad Image photo)?

Will students or guests need to be vaccinated to attend a ceremony?
Vaccinations will not be required for students and guests to attend an on-campus ceremony. The university continues to recommend strongly that people get vaccinated. Greater rates of vaccination are the best tool available to reduce the rate of transmission in the community. Learn more at asu.edu/covid-vaccine.
If I don’t want to participate in any of the ceremonies, do I need to apply to graduate?
Yes. You must apply to graduate regardless of ceremony participation. For information on how to apply for graduation, visit students.asu.edu/registration/graduation-apply.
Do I need to register to participate in commencement or convocation (school/college ceremonies)?
Yes. It is necessary to register to participate in any in-person events. A link will be made available to you on your My ASU page.
What do I need to do to prepare for Spring 2023 graduation?

Apply for graduation and pay your fees by February 15, 2023. Apply online for graduation by going to myASU and clicking the "Graduation" tab in the My Programs & eAdvisor box. Please note that a credit card is required. - COMPLETE
Complete the Barrett Graduation Form - Go to myASU and click the "Graduation" tab in the My Programs & eAdvisor box. Click on “RSVP for Ceremonies” link; on this page you will see forms for each of your colleges including Barrett. Note: this link will appear only for students who have filed for graduation. RSVP site will be open starting February 27th. - ORDER
Order your cap and gown through the Herff Jones. If you so choose, you can also order graduation announcements, a diploma frame, class ring, and other memorabilia. - GO

What is the difference between Graduate Commencement, Undergraduate Commencement and Convocation?
- GRADUATE COMMENCEMENT is the University ceremony where President Crow confers degrees upon all ASU graduate students (Master's and Doctoral candidates).
- UNDERGRADUATE COMMENCEMENT is where President Crow will confer degrees upon all ASU undergraduate students (Bachelor's candidates).
- CONVOCATION is a celebratory ceremony where students are individually recognized by the college for their academic achievement. This is the ceremony where student names are called as they cross the stage and receive their diploma cover.
Who may walk in the Barrett Convocation
Barrett students who have applied to graduate from ASU Spring or Summer 2023 and are on track to complete the Barrett requirements are eligible to RSVP to participate in Barrett Convocation. To confirm your honors progress, please contact your Barrett Honors Advisor.
How long is the Convocation ceremony?
The Barrett Spring Convocation ceremony will last approximately 2 hours.
Is there a limit to the number of guests at Convocation? Do guests need tickets for the Convocation ceremony?
Tickets are NOT required for the Barrett Spring Convocation Ceremony.
How to Apply for Graduation?

Where do I get my cap and gown?
Graduates must wear an official ASU cap and gown during the Convocation ceremony.

The Spring 2023 Grad Fair Online will run from Friday, February 10 at 8 a.m. MST to Friday, March 3 at 8 p.m. MST. Keep an eye on your inbox on Friday, February 10 for the unique URL you will need to be able to access your discounted graduation packages.
You can purchase your graduation package online before March 3. Please note, after Grad Fair Online concludes, graduation packages will be full price.
Commemorative maroon and gold tassels are also available. All items can be purchased via the Herff Jones online store.

You can purchase your cap and gown at any Sun Devil Campus Store starting March 1st.
What should I wear with my cap and gown?
Graduates are encouraged to dress 'business professional' under their cap and gown for ceremonies. Please be careful when choosing footwear.
I think I'm supposed to have an honor cord- what is this? Where do I get it?

ASU/Barrett Online Students: After you apply to graduate you will receive an email with additional information about honor cords and ceremonies.
What time should I arrive at Desert Financial Arena? Where do we meet?
Doors to the arena will open one hour prior to the ceremony for both graduates and guests. Graduates will receive an email with detailed instructions on where and when to report for the ceremony. Graduates will report to the arena by 1 p.m. wearing cap and gown with business attire, and comfortable shoes. Graduates should not bring purses or valuables as there is no place to secure them.
Will I get my diploma at Commencement or Convocation?
If your university academic requirements are met, you will receive your diploma in the mail. Diplomas are mailed approximately six to eight weeks after the degree conferral date. Graduates will receive an email notification via their ASU email account when their diploma has been mailed. Diplomas are mailed to the student's diploma mailing address, which can be viewed and updated from My ASU. For more information, visit students.asu.edu/diploma.
Will my photo or video be taken during Convocation? Is there a professional photographer or videographer?
Professional photographers from Grad Images will take photos of graduates as they process onto stage and as they cross stage and accept their diploma cover. These photos are available for purchase after the ceremony. Grad Images will email all graduates with information about the photos that were taken within 48 hours of the ceremony. In addition, GradImages will be taking complimentary photos at each of ASU's campuses. For more information about photo dates, locations and links to register, please visit graduation.asu.edu/ceremonies/memories. Graduates may register to take photos at any available campus location that is convenient.

What if I need special accommodations?
If you (the graduate) need special accommodations or have a disability, please indicate on your Marching Order form and we will arrange to accommodate your needs.
If one of your guests will need special accommodations, please inform them that they will need to arrive early (doors open one hour prior to the start of the ceremony) and staff at Desert Financial Arena will assist them with special seating. The arena is wheelchair accessible. Seating for patrons with a physical disability is available in all facilities.
