Every year, numerous Barrett students receive scholarships and fellowships that are external to ASU for global study, travel, or research.

Global awards
Barrett Global Explorers Grant
Provides grants of $5,000 to $10,000 to support self-designed summer international research trips. Open only to Barrett juniors preparing for the Honors thesis.
Up to $25,000 to support extended individual study of foreign languages that are critical to U.S. national security interests.
Critical Languages Scholarship
Intensive group-based summer study programs at language training centers around the world. Emphasis on less commonly-taught languages.
Summer research experiences in Germany for STEM majors.
Fulbright UK Summer Institutes
Summer academic experience at British universities. Open only to first- and second-year students who have not previously traveled outside of North America.
Up to $5,000 to support general study abroad for students who have historically been excluded. Open only to Pell Grant recipients.
Semester-long academic exchange with Canadian universities. Sponsored by Fulbright Canada.
Postgraduate global fellowships
In addition, rising Barrett seniors are encouraged to consider the following postgraduate global fellowships:
One year of graduate study in STEM fields at Cambridge University.
Full funding for an academic year abroad to conduct research, engage in graduate study, pursue artistic endeavors, or serve as an ambassador and assistant English teacher. Awards for over 140 countries.
Full funding for any graduate program at Cambridge University.
Schwarzman Scholarship and Yenching Academy Scholarship
Graduate study in an international cohort at Tsinghua or Peking University. Emphasis on leadership.
Two years of graduate study at any university in the United Kingdom. Strong emphasis on intellectual ability, leadership potential, and ambassadorial potential.
One year of graduate study in Ireland or Northern Ireland. Strong emphasis on leadership ability.
Two years of graduate study at Oxford University. Strong emphasis on superior academic achievement, exceptional leadership, and commitment to the service of others.
