About Scholarship
The Barrett Summer Development Program provides Barrett students with the opportunity to pursue academic programs and experiences that can enhance their education during the summer. This funding must be used for a defined program as outlined in the application (e.g. internship, volunteer, research, etc.). This funding is not applicable for study abroad programs, such as Global Intensive Experiences or faculty-directed summer programs.
Program participation can vary in length.
Students may receive funding for international domestic programs as follows:
Support Amounts:
- Up to $1,500 for international programs
- Up to $1,000 for domestic programs
Disbursement:
- Funding is disbursed at the start of the Summer Session A
- If the student is not enrolled in summer classes at ASU, they receive the funding through Accounts Payable as a direct payment
- If the student is enrolled in summer classes, the funding is posted to their student account
Exclusions:
- Funding requests cannot cover tuition and fees
Eligibility requirements:
- Must be a current student enrolled in Barrett, The Honors College, and in good standing
- Summer programs must be academic in nature where students will receive direct, supervised training. The programs can be either:
- Established – a program in response to a need by site supervisor or company
- Created – the program is a result of a student who desires to work with a particular company/institution and will work with a site supervisor or company to establish a work plan with defined goals
- Must provide documentation of your summer program (ex. offer letter or email) for your application to be considered
- Selected Awardees may be invited to share their experiences with Barrett leadership and fellow Barrett students during an organized program or even the following academic year
