Thesis
Since the work you will complete is always based on your personal interests and career goals, the kind of projects that faculty have directed or co-directed are varied. We always suggest an initial interview with the FHA and faculty members to brainstorm and ensure that you are a good match.
Academic Preparation
It is recommended that students begin exploring thesis topics in their second and third years of study. The majority of students complete a thesis in their final two years of undergraduate study.
Recommended Timeline
The earlier students start planning for the thesis the betters so that they are more prepared and have time to explore their topics. In general, it is recommended that students start no later than in the spring semester of junior year to start forming research inquiries and seeking thesis committee members.
Other Honors Opportunities
Barrett students are encouraged to explore SILC travel programs and scholarship opportunities. Internships, research and student leadership are also strongly recommended for students and can lead to thesis topic ideas.
