Honors Devils

Overview

Do you love Barrett? Are you passionate about public speaking and sharing your Sun Devil story? Consider joining the official ambassador group for Barrett!

Honors Devils is a leadership and ambassador group within the recruiting and admissions office of Barrett that directly supports the recruitment of prospective students. The Honors Devils enjoy exclusive personal and professional development opportunities focused on enhancing their public speaking, problem solving, and communication skills. Honors Devils is a vibrant community of Barrett students who delight in sharing their love for the college with prospective students and their families.

Activities

  • Speak with prospective students and their families in-person and over the phone
  • Conduct information sessions and/or give tours of the Barrett community (specific role varies by campus)
  • Represent the college at events
  • Connect with prospective students and their families via email, physical mailings, and in virtual/print materials
  • Participate in personal and professional development opportunities
  • Enjoy social and community-building events

Expectations

Honors Devils is a distinguished group within Barrett. Because of their essential function to the college, any student who wishes to join Honors Devils must meet certain expectations:

  • All Honors Devils are Barrett students in good academic standing.
  • All members go through an application and interview process before joining the group.
  • Members must possess sufficient time management and organization skills
  • Members should be active in the Barrett/ASU community. This looks different for every person, but many Honors Devils also:
    • serve as Community Assistants or mentors in the residential community
    • conduct research
    • serve as Teaching Assistants or tutors for their academic college
    • belong to fraternity/sorority organizations
    • hold on-campus and/or off-campus jobs and internships
    • participate in other social, professional, or academic-focused activities

Service

As needed for scholarships, Greek Life, and other commitments within or external to ASU, participation in Honors Devils can satisfy community service requirements.
